Designer Medha Bhatnagar is back with her festive winter collection, under her label called me Diva. “Basically, I believe every woman is a diva, and I just help her feel like that,” says the young designer.
The outfits in her collection this season are an eclectic mix of patchworks, gota pattis, embroideries and brocades and include short dresses, kurtas with salwar/churidars, anarkalis, sherwanis, sarees and lehengas. “I’ve done a vast collection this time, and I’ve used bright colours for the festive season. The collection is young and elegant, and I’ve done some funky pieces as well,” says Medha.
Is there any change she sees this time, beyond the usual lehengas and salwar kameez ? “Yes, I’ve seen that in terms of festive outfits, everybody now wants a western element in their clothes. Either they go completely traditional, like a salwar kameez, but that’s also for everyday wear. I’ve done the everyday stuff, of course, but I’ve also experimented with different cuts and necklines,” she explains.
Medha’s showing her collection at the Claridges on September 25-26, from 11 am to 8 pm. Prices range from Rs 3,000 to Rs 25,000, with a few bridal outfits that can be made on request.
